Micheline's hair probably has the tightest curl known to man. She has even had other women with African hair comment on how tight her curl is. Unfortunately, the tighter the curl, the harder it can be to pick out when it is in an afro.

African hair may seem strong and wirey, but it is actually very fragile. Since she cut it herself last August which led to a stylist shaving her head, I am doing everything in my power to get her hair to grow once again so we can attempt to style it rather than keeping it in a teeny weeny afro. (TWA)

I wrote about how much I like Creme of Nature's shampoos and conditioners for Micheline's hair. On a hair group I am on for transracially adopted children, however, I kept reading about Taliah Waajid's Protective Mist Bodifier. People claimed that it made their daughter's hair much easier to comb out and kept most of the tangles at bay.

I read their reviews with a grain of salt because I have seen their children's photos and their curl is not as tight as Micheline's. I finally decided to try it, however, and ordered the gift pack from their website so I could try a variety of the products. I have been using the protective mist bodifier for 5 days and I truly cannot believe how much softer my daughter's hair is.

Her hair has always felt nice after a good rinse and conditioner but when it dries it becomes rather hard feeling. With the bodifying mist, however, her hair stays soft. Right out of the tub it feels amazingly soft and wonderful and after it has dried, it is still very soft and has far fewer tangles.

It costs $6.00 for 8 ounces in the small size, but if you like it, you can reorder it in the larger size container and just refill your spray bottle from the larger bottle. The large size is $20.00 for 32 ounces so you save $4.00 when you buy the larger size. I am slowly using the other products from the gift pack as well and will let you know how much I like them when I have had more experience with them. One thing I really like so far is the mild piņa colada scent, and all of the products in the giftpack have the same scent, so you don't have one scent fighting another.

Here are some related links from Erin's transracial adoption blog on hair products her family has tried and which kinds work best for different kinds of hair.
