While I was away on a youth trip to Schroon Lake, New York for three days Gracie missed me. My mom said she looked at my picture and asked “Where Sissy”? Mom said Gracie would call out “Sissy, Sissy”? and my mom would tell Gracie that I was away and that I was going to be back home in two days or tomorrow or whatever time frame was left on me returning. The thing I thought was most special is she wanted to sleep in my room each night I was away to help her feel like she was close to me even when I was hundreds of miles away from her.

Another thing that makes me glad I have a little sister is what she will do when I get home from school in the afternoons. Gracie will yell “Sissy, Sissy”! and then will run to me and jumps up in my arms to give me a great big, fat hug and a wet kiss on my cheek.

The third thing that makes me feel glad to have a little sister is when she wakes up in the middle of the night and runs in my bedroom and then crawls into my big, comfy bed to fall back asleep snuggled up to her big sissy. I just love to snuggle with her.

The forth thing that makes me glad to have a little sister is when she grabs my hand and leads me along to play a game of hide and go seek with her. She will say “hide, hide” and then count while peeking through her little fingers covering her eyes to see where I am hiding.

The fifth thing that makes me glad I have a little sister is when she takes my hand to lead me to a chair so that I can read a book to her. Her favorites are the Foot Book by Dr. Seuss and another book called Piggies. After I read her one of these books she will then take the book and try to read it back to me. She thinks she is big stuff trying to read back to me.

The sixth thing that makes me glad I have a little sister is when she does a great feat such as using the potty (our family is in the midst of potty training her) or when she puts on her shirt all by herself she will run to me and clap her little hands together and yells out, “I did it, I did it, I did it”. She just melts my heart when she wants to include her big sissy on her major accomplishments.
