Here is part 3 of my special memories I shared with Gracie in 2006. It was a great year!
In the beginning of September school was back into full swing. I missed spending my days with Gracie but I do remember taking one of the best pictures we have of Gracie. I just received my digital camera and I was ready to take pictures, especially of my little sister. Doesn’t she have the cutest smile? I also remember my dad traveling to Europe for three weeks and on the day of his return Gracie was so surprised to see him and ran up to him saying “Daddy, daddy, daddy”. I think my dad just melted.
In October Gracie and I spent our weekends playing in the freshly fallen leaves and we dressed up for Halloween as Dr. Seuss’s Thing 1 and Thing 2. As we went around the neighborhood trick or treating the neighbors gave us many complements on our costumes. One neighbor even said it was the best costumes he had seen all night. It meant a lot because our costumes were pretty much homemade. Our uncle gave us the shirts and the hats for Christmas the year before. I helped dress Gracie in matching black pants and then put on a little face paint. Thanks for the outfits Uncle Earl! Also, I started writing for Adoption Blogs in October and I love it!

In November we went to my Aunt Jo’s house for Thanksgiving. Instead of the usual turkey dinner we decided to change things up a bit. We had BBQ chicken and it sure tasted good! Gracie enjoyed playing with her cousins Jack, Meleah and Nathan that day. Things were loud in my Aunt Jo’s home with four children all under the age of four. My family certainly had a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
In December on Christmas day I woke up before everyone else and I turned up my electric keyboard as loud as I could get it and played Christmas songs to wake up my mom, my dad, and Gracie. They did really enjoy it and so did I playing the songs for them. My mom, dad, Gracie and I went downstairs and opened Christmas gifts together. Gracie’s face just lit up as she torn into her gifts. Later on that evening we headed over to my Aunt Jo’s to celebrate Christmas with my mom’s side of the family. One of the greatest parts of Christmas day was being with the ones I love the most.
Tonight I watched the ball drop in New York City at a New Years Eve celebration with my parents and Gracie and I looked back at the many memories 2006 has brought and welcome in the New Year with many more wonderful memories to make!
Happy New Year everyone!!!
