Good-bye to 2006 and hello to 2007. It was a great year but now it is time to move on. It is time to work on those New Year’s resolutions and make new goals and new memories. It is also a time to reflect on the memories from years past.
Here is part 1 of some of my special memories from this past year that I hope you will enjoy.
In January we celebrate my mom’s birthday. I remember Gracie loving and hugging Mommy more than usual that day. I guess she knew that was mom’s special day.
In February we had our first and only snowfall of the season. I remember waking up to find the snow falling fast and the flakes were large because they were sticking together as they fell. Even though the snow was coming down pretty good the ground was too warm for the snow to stick for very long. Two good things came out of it. A day home from school (YAHOO!) and watching Gracie’s expressions as the snowflakes came down hitting her beautiful little face. It was a sight I will never forget.
In March I remember my mom and I dressed up in green for St. Patrick’s Day. But my daddy and Gracie did not. Dad thought the idea of wearing green was silly and well Gracie…she just refused. Running around in the house in her diaper was her idea of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. J
In April my family traveled to my aunt and uncle’s beach house for the week of Easter. This was Gracie’s first trip to the beach. One of the funniest memories I remember was about my little cousin, Meleah who is 3 years old. Meleah has this obsession with the color pink. Everything she wears has to be pink, pink, and pink. My Aunt Jo bought Meleah a bathing suit to wear at the beach that was blue hoping Meleah would phase out of this pink obsession. Well…it did not work. Gracie had a pink bathing suit and the only way to make our trip a lot more enjoyable was to let Meleah wear Gracie’s pink bathing suit and Gracie would wear Meleah’s blue bathing suit. Normally my aunt would have stood her grounds and told Meleah that she was going to have to wear her blue bathing suit, but in this case this was a battle she just did not want to tackle on vacation. The good news is the battle was won once we all got home over this pink wardrobe obsession Meleah had. Do not get me wrong. Meleah still LOVES to wear pink but at least she will branch out and wear other colors. The other memory I had about the beach was the way Gracie would inch up to the water. She would sit on the sand and scoot up to the water. I think she must have had fifty pounds of sand in her diaper when we took her in to get her cleaned up for her nap. And finally my dad caught some great pictures of us to look back on to remember our special trip together.
