I am all about 'picking my battles', and I thought this was one I wanted to pick, but maybe not! She has a counseling appt. tomorrow and I was planning on asking him what he thinks. This is new to me, so I'm just trying to figure out this whole thing. She is 14 and has been with us for 8 months, and I just discovered this about a week ago. I really don't want to fight a losing battle, but I do want her to assess why she does it and see if we can get her to trust me enough to know that there will always be food available and she does not have to sneak it.

My children are not "allowed" to eat in their rooms either. However, Lyn sneaks her food into her room and throws the wrappers behind the bed. Dani does the same thing. So, I guess you can either give the things that are easy to clean up, or let them sneak other things. At least if you know it is there, you can make a point of washing the sheets more often and vacuuming the room more often. Good luck, it isn't an easy road you have chosen, but it is a life saving road. Julia

I have been given this suggestion by another mom, but my concern is that she will eat it in her room which is against the rules for the logistical concern of bugs and mice in the house. Any ideas for overcoming that issue?
