Yes, I do feed my son even though it doesn’t look like it. People have asked me what it was like to travel to China with children to bring home their new brother. I thought for today’s Friday Funny that I would share with you my oldest son’s idea of funny. These were taken, believe it or not in the Civil Affairs office in Wuhan, China, right after we signed for the first 24 hours of custody of Caleb before the adoption paperwork was completed. Caleb took my digital camera and started snapping away, and I guess Taylor decided that he would make Caleb’s time worthwhile. As you can see, my kids love to play around.
I was totally oblivious that any of these photos were being taken until I went to upload them that night to Jeff’s laptop computer. At first I was ready to yell at him, "You did this in the middle of our adoption proceedings?", but then admittedly started laughing.

Here I am having a nice serious conversation with our guide in Wuhan, telling her some of the questions I wanted asked of Caleb’s orphanage directors. Many times the questions can be very sensitive, and need to be asked carefully so as not to offend anyone. I knew Caleb was taking photos, because I could see the flash going off repeatedly. Unbeknownst to me, however, this is what Taylor decided to do behind my back.
It’s a miracle that Caleb was brave enough to come for that first 24 hours with our loony family. Come to think of it, it’s an even bigger miracle that the Civil Affairs officials trusted us to let us take him. I only pray their heads were down taking care of paperwork when these were taken!
