Christmas Tree

In my last blog I gave a couple of suggestions for Christmas tree ideas that you and your family might use to try something different this year. These ideas are great to get the family involved in a holiday family project and even to start a new family tradition together. Many ideas listed are also great for a smaller tree you might display in a special place in your home or in a child’s room. I have a shorter tree that I have decorated with my own flair and it is standing in my room. Read on for more suggestions.

Angel Tree: Angels. Such a big part of the Christmas story. No Christmas is complete without angels. Decorate this tree with homemade angels and glue a photo of your family members face to make the face of the angel. You could also have each family member make and decorate their own angel and add their name to the bottom so that you know whose is who. The tree is not complete without an angel on top of your Christmas tree masterpiece!

Adoption Tree: Well, we all can relate to this one! Gather some items from your child or sibling’s homeland and display them on the tree. Anything that has to do with this wonderful event is great. Some ideas might be to hang up their hospital bracelet, their first rattle, first little booties, photo’s of “gotcha day” and family photos just to name a brief few. This idea may be great for some families and not so great for others for various reasons. However, if this is an idea that you might want to use then this tree is really all about your family and that special day. Decorate it the way that fits your child or sibling.

Children’s Choice Tree: This is a great way to get the kids involved big time. Basically, the kids run the show! They can spend an afternoon making their own ornaments or they can pick out their own ornaments to decorate with. It is totally up to them. Who cares if they don’t match or the ornaments are all clumped together? It is their choice and now you finally have a masterpiece you can brag on and display for all your relatives and friends to see!
