Friday night I spent the night at my friend Kaitlynn’s house celebrating her fourteenth birthday. Six other of Kaitlynn’s closest friends also spent the night. We had a wonderful time of shopping, eating Chinese food and enjoying delicious treats at one of my favorite places, Starbucks. YUM!!! The evening was also spent laughing and watching movies and of course, staying up until all hours of the night. (Poor Kaitlynn’s parents.)
The time was quickly passing by and I realized it was getting late so I wanted to call my home and say goodnight to my mom and Gracie. My dad was away on a business trip to Knoxville, Tennessee and I knew my mom would be getting Grace ready for bed.
Earlier my friends and I were talking about Gracie and how she had been growing and changing and all the cute things she had been doing lately. When I called home I told my mother goodnight and that I loved her and then I asked mom if she would put Gracie on the phone so that my friends and I could talk to her before I hung up for the evening. I turned my cell phone on speaker and my mom put our phone up to Gracie’s ear. She was in the bathtub at the time. I told her that I loved her and that I missed her and to have a goodnight. She responded with silly jabber and laughter because she knew she was talking to her big sissy. Finally I told Gracie goodnight and bye-bye. She stopped laughing and said bye-bye. All of my friends were listening to our conversation in the background and then broke out in unison saying, “Ahwwwwwww.” My friends then told Gracie night-night and bye-bye.
I hung up my cell phone and I thought to myself how blessed I am to be loved by such a wonderful little sister.
