My Language Arts teacher gave our class a writing assignment on how we are keeping the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. alive in our own personal life. As we reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. King this day I thought I would share with each of you how I am keeping his dream alive. Enjoy!
A DREAM A dream. Who knew something so small could have such a huge impact on the way we live our lives today, but one man’s voice cannot do it alone. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream of living in a world without... more

Here is part 3 of my special memories I shared with Gracie in 2006. It was a great year!
In the beginning of September school was back into full swing. I missed spending my days with Gracie but I do remember taking one of the best pictures we have of Gracie. I just received my digital camera and I was ready to take pictures, especially of my little sister. Doesn’t she have the cutest smile? I also remember my dad traveling to Europe for three weeks and on the day of his return Gracie was so surprised to see him and ran up... more

Good-bye to 2006 and hello to 2007. I hope you enjoy part 2 of some of my special memories I shared with Gracie in 2006.
In May Gracie celebrated her first Mother’s Day with mom. One year prior Gracie was only a dream and now she is a very special reality. What a wonderful Mother’s Day gift for my mom. The other thing I remembered about May was that summer break was just around the corner. One more month away and then I would be spending more time with Gracie. I really looked forward to that.
In June I prepared to... more

Good-bye to 2006 and hello to 2007. It was a great year but now it is time to move on. It is time to work on those New Year’s resolutions and make new goals and new memories. It is also a time to reflect on the memories from years past.
Here is part 1 of some of my special memories from this past year that I hope you will enjoy.
In January we celebrate my mom’s birthday. I remember Gracie loving and hugging Mommy more than usual that day. I guess she knew that was mom’s special day.

Christmas with Gracie was a blast this year. She was so funny because when it came time to open our Christmas presents she looked confused since we told her she could not touch the presents in the days leading up to Christmas. Once we told her it was all right to open them her face lit up with excitement.
Gracie received a Leap Frog learning system with books she could change out, a mega color doodling pad and three Blue’s Clues DVDs just to name a few. I gave her a Dora the Explorer bathtub... more

Well, it has been a few days since I have written, but with the preparations for the holidays and having a cold, it has been hard for me to get on the computer.
It is almost Christmas. Just ONE more day! I can hardly believe it is that time of year again! Today my mom, my dad, Gracie, and I went to my Maw-Maw’s (Grandmother’s) house for a Christmas Eve brunch. My Maw-Maw is such a good cook so we had all kinds of great things to eat. Scrambled eggs, hash browns, HOMEMADE biscuits, country ham, tenderloin, oranges,... more

This is my final Christmas tree suggestions blog. I hope you and your family might be inspired to try something a little different this year. I know Gracie and I will be starting some of our own “siblings” traditions this year. Enjoy and happy memory making!!!
Princess or Dress-up Tree: Okay, as a girl, I have to do one for us females. You can use play jewelry to hang as ornaments. Place some princess shoes in between the branches. You could also place some little stuffed animals or Barbie’s dressed up in their princess outfits. You... more

In my room I have a tree about three and a half feet tall. I look forward to decorating my tree each Christmas. I love to personalize my Christmas tree to reflect my personality. Here are some more suggestions on how you and your sibling may want to personalize your own tree.
Bring Your Own Ornament Christmas Tree: My church did this tree at a get together and it ended up being really cool. Each person was asked to bring their favorite ornament and as we all would arrive at the party we would then hang our ornament on the tree that... more

In my last blog I gave a couple of suggestions for Christmas tree ideas that you and your family might use to try something different this year. Many ideas listed are also great for a smaller tree you might display in a special place in your home or in a child’s room. I have a shorter tree that I have decorated with my own flair and it is standing in my room. Read on for more suggestions. Angel Tree: Angels.... more

Over the next few blogs I hope to give you a few ideas that might inspire you to try something different or even spark a new family tradition.
