I found some letters that were written by Korean birthmothers and as the sister of an adopted sister from China I often think about what Gracie’s birthmother may have wanted to say to her in a letter. This question will always be in my mind but I hope the letter would have been one filled with love, sadness and hopes for a better life then what could have been given to her in China.

Do you remember the feelings and thoughts many of you had before the adoption process began to receive your sibling? I remember it as if it were yesterday. I had wanted a sibling so badly for many years. Yes! The paperwork was done for us to receive our referral. I was so ecstatic! The adoption agency said that it would be another week or two until we received our referral as I was packing for a trip to Atlanta, Georgia with some friends to a Braves baseball game and to Six Flags.
The trip was really fun, but I still thought about my unknown sister in China. I wrote in my journal about the updates of the adoption and what I was doing to survive the long wait.
